Certainly appears practical.:rolleyes::woot: Just a shame it looks so...uh...how can I put this delicately? like the lovechild of Hervé Villechaize and Jimmy Durante.

Looks like a 2005 Bizzarini GTS 4.4V to me. One of those 'revival concepts' that never get off the ground.

Especially if left too close to the sun.
Looks like a phallic for those guys who try far too hard.

Yes. It is a Bizzarini concept that was proposed a few years back and never went into production.

Why???? it needs to at least look like one of the past not some else' sWhy? Why would revival of the marque require one to design a car that looks like a car from 40 - 50 years ago? If the point is to revive the marque one needs to design cars that consumers would buy; you can't revive a brand by building a car that only appears to old farts and antique car fanciers because it looks like their beloved IDYSD ride - that's a pretty limited market - you've got to build something that young folks want to buy; something new and unique.

I think that's why folks have failed trying to revive marques and why they will continue to fail.

There are exceptions; as the Camaro, Mustang, Charger and Challenger have proved but you have to keep in mind too that muscle cars were made in huge numbers and are very well known. Avanti would probably be considered more of a sport coupe but not a "muscle" car and its numbers mean that it had far less exposure in its day so a revival would appeal to fewer persons today.

Ya wanna build cars? Ya gotta build something that will appeal to enough folks that you end up making money; not losing money. Studebaker and Packard sort of slipped off the rails there and lost sight of that and it doomed them. Pegging a revival to an old design of cars that really didn't have a strong market in their day or since will doom it.

I'm just sayin'

I like the pictured car.
In my opinion, 2001-2007 Avantis are a modern car with enough of the nostalgic look of the early Avantis, sort of like the newer Mustangs/Camaros/Challengers.

Why do you refer to it as an "86 GT"? There were no 1986 Avanti models built. I have seen the Avanti GT prototype coupe and the Daytona Avanti both refered to as 1983s and that is what I consider them to be. I remember seeing the Daytona car. It is simply a race car with a skin to appear as an Avanti.

I guess I should abandon my dream of building the next generation Rambler American. Although a next generation electric Metropolitan might well be a hit as a commuter car!

]

The use of number 28 gets some people confused. There were two different Avanti appearing race cars with the number 28. One was the race car made to look like an Avanti that was raced at Daytona and the other was the modified Avanti (GT) that was raced elsewhere.

Maybe the owners of the biggest ex-Saab dealer in Trollhatten will buy a part of the old factory, secure a GM drivetrain; Opel perhaps, and start limited production. (Sound famillir?)
