Just got back from Kent Fedor's with the Skytop.

    For the stat lovers:

From central NY to eastern Michigan:
    598 miles
12 hours total time each way
    10 hours moving time
Average moving MPH: 53.1 out, 58.4 back (with car)
    Top speed: 102 MPH

The 4 U.S./Canada border crossings were no trouble at all! One wait (Canada into MI) was the worst, at approx. 40 minutes; others were around 15 minutes. Only asked for license and purpose of crossing; on the way back with the car, asked where I was coming from and destination; from Canada into NY, was asked from and destination, officer walked around the car briefly and said, "How do I know you didn't buy this in Canada?!?" I said, "I have the title", turned to get it, and when I looked back, she was smirking and holding my license out to me and said, "You're all set, have a nice day!". I think she was into me; poor kid, happens to me all the time... can't blame her though...

Only real issue was a couple construction delays; that ate up most of the down time[}] That's the only thing that rattles me; not bad, but have to work on not rolling my eyes and sighing loudly when I encounter one... Left Kent's at 8:00 last night, drove till a little after 11 (just over 100 miles), then hit a rest area and went to bed; slept in LATE (almost 8:00!!), then hit the road.

(SIDE NOTE): LOVE it when my one cup of coffee a day can be Tim Horton's!!

As for the car- no problems hauling it except the LR window wouldn't stay up, even with 200 MPH tape on it... boy, my van's fast... it runs, and it's all there, but R O U G H... got some questions for you all on it (I'll post a separate thread)...

Anyway- safe trip, and it's home! Kent's a great guy, and threw in some extra goodies; thanks again Kent! I'm hoping to make another trip to Kent's soon for another car, but that's another story...

Already looking forward to my next Stude road trip!![^]

And a P.S.: The top speed above was not really from the trip; just wanted to see if you were paying attention...

You'll probably have a headache tomorrow from Tim Horton's withdrawl. Ask me how I know.

Hi Bob, glad you got it home safely. Yeah, I saw that 102 MPH all right!
I am thinking hmmm...a brick with another brick behind it on a tow dolly no less, 102 MPH, I don't think so. Would be one hot 350 SB!

No, my 318 Dodge Hi-Top Conversion van with 205K miles would have a hard time hitting 102 towing a 62 Lark- even with Tim Horton coffee!!

That top speed was left over from when I brought the much sleeker 59 home from JP's; that was the speed I was at when I lost the wheel on the Beltway.
