  • Studebaker Avanti body setting on stainless frame

Here are some photos of the Studebaker Avanti body sitting on the frame.

It is sitting on 2x4's, as the body needs to be notched for the rear 4-link pivot, as well as clearing the front a-arms.

We are thinking of using a plexiglass cover for the spare tire well opening.

sigpic 1963 Studebaker Avanti: LS1 motor and T-56 transmission have been moved rearward, set up as a two seat coupe with independent rear suspension. Complex solutions for nonexistant problems.

Good idea, Gene. It would be a shame to hide that "jewelry" [].

BTW, I know I'm an old skool guy that leans toward skinny and tall tires, but you've just GOT to put some bigger meats on the car! [)]

Why can't I convince anyone that those are Bonneville Salt Flat tires and rims?

How many people on this forum race on the salt?
I know - you know it - they have no need to know it.

And all this time I thought those wheels and tires were some exotic method of reducing unsprung weight.[8D]
