Avanti Pace Car

Found this on another forum. Was the Avanti a pace car at Sebring or just some type of official car for the races.

This is a new one for me, I haven't seen that photo before. It almost looks like that Avanti might have competed in the race rather than being a pace car. Note that it does not say "Pace Car" anywhere on it. On the other hand, there is no number on it either which is a little odd for a race car. Looks like maybe a Corvette in front of it?
