  • Pinehurst Concours d'Elegance

The inagural Pinehurst Concours d'Elegance will be held in Pinehurst, North Carolna on May 2-5, 2013. I first heard about this event from an article in the Fayetteville Observer. The organizers have already held a practice run of the Iron Mike Rally that will go from Pinehurst to Fort Bragg. That practice run included the Golden Hawk seen below. Here is the website for the event: http://pinehurstconcours.com/ Check out this site there is lots of stuff here. I'm thinking it could be fun to attend as a spectator, if tickets are not too expensive. Remember this is Pinehurst and there is lots of money around there along with the people to spend it.

And here is the real artsy photo of the Golden Hawk.

The hawk pictured is my 1958 Golden Hawk and I had a wonderful day at the Pinehurst Concours d' Elegance press day . We had 20 cars from around North Carolina and met at the Carolina Inn for breakfast. From there we had a police and military escort some 35 miles non stop to Ft Bragg. We had a very nice lunch and were treated to songs by the 82 airborne chorus ....actually brought tears to my eyes. They were great and both men and women from tours overseas were in attendance.
We had parked our cars on their parade field and then after lunch we were taken to the firing range where we toured mock terrorist villages and then to the firing range where we fired live bullets ...had fun firing a pistol 9 mm
This Pinehurst d' Elegance has been in planning for some 2 years and will be a great event next May 2013. They are accepting applications for invitations on the web site.

Joe, I should have known that was your beautiful car. I am glad you got to participate in the "practice" Iron Mike Rally, that looked like lots of fun. Do you happen to know the cost for spectator tickets? I see that they have not posted that info on their web site although they said the info would be out by October. I would like to go to look at what promises to be a wonderful group of automobiles on the day of the actual concours show.

I sure hope someone finds a nice Pinehurst to run there next year.
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.
