  • Need help identifying this

A year ago I finished building the engine for my 56 Champion. Now I installed it on the chassis before dropping the body down on it. As I started installing the acessories on it I found this in the bottom of the box. My first thought was, must have missed the camshaft retainer. So pulled the cover, still easy to do now, No that was OK. Actually this is too short for that,
Looks like it may have been holding a spring down by the pattern on one side and pushed against a pin on the other side. No bolt marks around the holes. It is 3 1/8" long and the hole is 1 3/8" diameter.
It has me stumped. Can anyone identify this piece for me?
    Thanks, Nick

Maybe the lock plate for the crank damper/pulley? Kind of looks like the ones I have except mine are bent up .

Is yours a stick shift and did you dis-assemble the Clutch Release Bearing?

If yes, it appears to be: Plate, clutch release collar wear p/n 199279

Yep, that is exactly what it is, my first thought when first seeing it.

Thanks guys. After posting this I sat down with the parts book and came to the same conclusion that it came off the release bearing as the picture showed something like that and the only thing that would have been in the box with the engine parts.
                  Thanks again, Nick
