We Yankees subscribe to The Charleston [SC] Mercury to keep an eye on the community where son Joe and daughter-in-law Melissa live. Imagine our surprise when this insert was in this week's paper!

I know there are a lot of pet lovers in SDC-land, and we have a "Rotty" mix, Paxton, of our own. So I figured this would be the most astonishing news de jour for most of us:

Simply unbelievable; every single cage empty due to the dogs having been adopted out. :D What an achievement. :!: BP

Bob: Thank you for your posting. The Humane Society benefits thousands of homeless animals annually.

This story about a boy and his cat "Toothless" is sad and has been getting considerable coverage. Our 18 year-old kitty came from the Humane Society at age 5. She has lost her sight, but Shadow still rules.

The boy won't get another "Toothless", but lets hope he gets new friend soon.
