  • Brakes: Brake lights staying on

I have put on a new Hydrovac and a new brake light switch, as well as a complete new wiring harness throughout the car. What am I missing?
I have unpluged the switch and gone back a half hour later, pluged it back in, and the lights are off.
    Your insight please!

How long since the three hoses have been replaced? Interior degradation can thwart fluid return, maintaining pressure on the sending switch. Just thinking out loud.

To add to the above, if the brake lights stay on for a while, then go out, your system is retaining pressure in the brake lines. If nothing else in the hydraulic system was changed, I would also suspect the hydrovac or its connections.

I believe the residual pressure valve should be in the hydrovac cylinder.....not in the master cylinder.
You might check that. Also the switches when they are bad do the exact same thing. I don't think a bad hose would cause that unless it was before the booster, and switch.

There are 5 hoses with a hydrovac system. Most forget the 2 small hoses on the hydrovac itself.

There is only 1 flex hose before the switch.
