Rebuilding 61 Hawk 289. Dist gear pin almost sheared. What kind of pin can I use or is is there anyplace to get the right one?

What I have seen in my shop is a simple "roll pin" to hold the gear on. They are also known as "tension pins" and can be found at most FLAPS but, I would tend to steer towards NAPA or CARQUEST. I have also found them at a good hardware store with a fastener section. Neal

I'm sure that would work but as a side note I've heard that you should never used a hardened pin for this. I don't know how credible that info was though.

I totally agree, you should not use a hardened pin because it can shear. Roll pins (Tension pins) are hard but very tough and will bend quite a bit before they shear I have seen some wild angles on roll pins! Just make sure it is quality (not from our owners, China). Neal
