My engine needs to be pulled out and rebuilt due to leaky everything! Looked on line and saw a rebuild kit can cost around 1500 bucks (plus whatever other costs). Wondering if dropping in another engine is a more sensible choice.... Suggestions?

Please refer to my post in your other thread/topic (Gaskets...). I was unable to copy it over here.
Labor will be more than parts.

Hi Sue,

If the engine doesn't smoke or have a knock it might not take too much to seal it up again with new gaskets and seals. Fountain Auto Repair on West Burnside Road in Victoria is owned by an SDC member and his son. It wouldn't hurt to let them have a look at your car before you make any decisions regarding rebuild or swapping engines.

On the other hand, there may be a decent ohv six available through the local SDC Chapter members. Tom Fiddler at Fountain Auto Repairs would probably know what might be available on the island.
