I have just purchased a Studebaker commander coupe and don't know what year it is. The door serial number is 8353427 and the body number on the cowl is 4HC5 14203. Any help in verifying whether it is a 1953 or 1954 would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Peter

As John/JDP said, it is a 1953 model. It is also a Commander Starlight. It is one of 14,752 built. Your car was assembled in the South Bend, IN plant. The last 1953 South Bend Commander was S/N 8354900, so you can see that your car was very near the end of 1953 model production. You can get more information about your particular car by ordering the car's build sheet from the Studebaker National Museum.

Also, it's a Regal model (C5). Top of the line trim.
