Which Studebaker engines and transmissions used the R11 overdrives? I am looking for the R11 and would like to narrow my search. I have a line on 1 but will probably need 2 or more to accomplish my mission.

Jim, I've only seen the R11 on the T85/T89 transmissions. These were mainly in the '56-58 Golden Hawks and the later pickups with the 289" engines. Does your project need the long tailshaft '57-58 GH or the short tailshaft?

Jim, also, the President models, and Packards from 56-58 also used them.

I would prefer the short tailshaft, but the long tailshaft may work as well.

The short tailshafts were by far the most common in pickups.

If you part them out and use just the OD unit, I'd take the detritus for luck. If I've got parts, the next core tranny I rebuild will be perfect. If I don't have parts, it will need everything.
