  • Australian Invasion (well, my part anyway).

    Hello all,

Had a great time at the 2012 Meet, am planning to bring my son to Colorado Springs in 2013, his 1st time in the US, and 1st International Stude meet! Can I suggest a time be set aside for a SDC Forum 'get together', I think you guys call it a 'mixer'. I love to put faces to names.

That's a good idea Aussie Hawk. The forum buttons through Studebaker International worked very well as I met a good number of people from the forum in South Bend. I also had met someone who I had corresponded with on the Avanti owners page on Facebook. A mixer or face to face blog would be great.

As it stands now my good friend Ian Mackellar and his family of 4 plan on coming over, they were all here for the 07 International in South Bend and we all had a great time in the motor home and on the salt flats running the 67 Avanti, Ian has been over for every meet since 01 except the 04 meet, I know I sure look forward more to the meets when I know he is going to come over.

I agree, a mixer would be a great idea, whether fully organized or just an informal gathering. I found myself looking for things to do in South Bend after the sun went down, and came up empty handed. A mixer on one of the nights might answer that problem.

If those fun-lovin Aussies are there.... COUNT ME IN!
I've been "down under" twice & enjoyed both visits ... even the first one when Uncle Sam sent me down to Sydney for a week back in 1967!

I'll probably be wearing the tshirts I purchased from Studebaker Int'l today along with my badge/nametag (available for $1 at the same store) which has my forum name on it. I could put my real name, but no one here really knows me as that.

Also, Studebaker Int'l isn't doing any electronic form of accepting payment. So they might be a bit backlogged with data entry of CC receipts for a while if people do as much shopping as planned. They have a large room, and loads? of stuff.

I'm for everyone's info, not from Australia, NZ, or S. Africa.

Maybe I should talk this to differentiate myself. =)
