  • Brakes: I really need a 533065 NOS brake cable

I'm at a standstill putting the rear end back together. I ordered SIs version of this cable but it's too different to work. I need a NOS cable, if anyone has any ideas it would really help. Thanks.

Why not have that guy in Lebanon, PA make one? I don't immediately recall his name but could probably find it, given some time. He produced a very nice front brake cable for my friends '47 M5.

That cable fits all hawks thus it will probably be hard to find. It fits All 1954-64 C-K cars and All 1953-58 Land Cruisers.

Have to check but I believe I have several of these, used and new. Give me a day or two to check and I'll send you a message.

Just curious - What's the difference between the new part and the old?

The original is held into the backing plate with a clamp and nuts, the new one is held in with a clip but it will not fit into the clamp style backing plate.

I think you're dealing with something I found when I put the brake system back together on my car. What you got from the vendor has cast ends with a collar, but that collar doesn't fit between the backing plate and the clamps, right?

What I did was to take my Dremel and grind off the collar. The cable then fit like a glove - the machined groove even goes where it ought to On the left is the cable as it came out of the package, and on the right is the modified collar.

                      Does this help you any?

I was thinking of grinding it but like you did but then I figured if I can get a NOS one it would be one less thing to worry about.
