I saw this picture posted on e-bay as part of a brochure on the '64 Dealer Uniform Identity Program. Though the quality is poor, it looks as if he has at least 2 Avanti's on the lot! [:0]

    Here is the link:

I have that brochure. It looks like a Triumph Herald between the Avantis.

That's one of the South Bend dealers,(actually Mishawaka) as a matter of fact I bought my first Studebaker there. It was a 51 2 door sedan rust bucket, bought in 1957. The package came with few big decals as I recall and I foolishly stuck them on a bunch of shelves in my garage years ago and I still have one shelf unit with the decal.

Hmmm ...what would the odds be[?][?][?]

My Dad traded-in his '51 light green 2 dr. (rust bucket) on a still like-new '56 President at Brook's ...but thought that happened a little later than 1957! And what may I ask were you doing in South Bend (actually Mishawaka) at that time?[8D]

Whatever the lightest color green was for the '51 model year ...may have been called "mint green" for all I know. It did NOT have any "special" (optional) type bumper guards; just the typical 2 vertical guards.

Close, but no cigar, mine had the big guards.
