Studebaker on the banking by Rob Scorah, on Flickr

Photog says this car won the Original Pan Am class in the 2011 Carrera Panamericana. Anyone familiar with it?

Wonder if those little red maple leaves signify the number of Brand X kills that thing has made.

Headline should have been "Canadian Studebaker at Speed in its natural environment".

        Very neat car.
Wouldn't it be neat if the maple leafs were painted on to look like the wind was blowing them?
A lot in the front and trailing off to the back like a flame paint.

That's John Gregory's car. Vancouver, BC.

One of the original axles in that car was donated by John to the Kart Hauler.

John has won the stock class in this Studebaker powered Studebaker several times.

It's a shame that La Carrera Panamericana doesn't get more press...especially in Studebaker circles. Studebakers rule several classes in that race...including the unlimited class.

Dick, the '53 Stude Coupes are the only cars I know of that compete in the La Carrera Panamericana. I lead such a sheltered life.

That "maple leaves blowing off the car" idea has been done locally, though not on a Stude--a blue T-bucket hotrod in this region has just such a treatment. There's also a wild red VW Bug in the area with "ghost" maple leaves and realistic lightning bolts. Both are very eye-catching indeed.

Wonderful sight. Would love to drive mine down the Costera in Acapulco, but I'd get pulled over by the tourist police for sure. Great shot, and thanks for ID ing it, Dick.

That's a beautifully done photograph. Love the feeling of speed by panning the camera as the car moves past.
                      Nice job.
