  • Body / Glass: Trunk Lid 1948 Commander

I have a 1948 Commander. I removed the trunk lid in order to get it painted. When the paint job was finished, I reinstalled the trunk lid, but it's really hard to lift until it gets over half way up. What did I do wrong? When it's all the way up, it stays up just fine.

I noticed in the Studebaker International catalog that they have new hinges and springs for most models, but not for the 1948 Commander. Do you know why that is?

    Thanks,

    Joe

That's the way 47-52 trunk lids are. They are hard to lift until you get them over half way up. At least, that's the way mine are.

If yours was different before you took it off, I would be surprised. Oiling the hinges might help a bit.

How about some pictures of the car?
