    i want to make daily driver truck with good gas milage. any ideas?

    Thru 1950, you'd want (ideally) a Big six with 3spd OD. A later truck (Transtar or Champ), you'd want a V8 with OD - and a 3.73 rear axle if you could find one. 4.09 would be next best choice.
    No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

      Granted, you'd have to work on the drive train. However the time-consuming stuff is taken care of.

        Man, thats a sweetie! All it needs is a 3spd OD to be perfect.
