Hello-

I am in the process of painting the various parts on my 1955 commander 2 door sedan front grille and need help.

All part numbers are from the chassis parts catalog.

The radiator grille, chrome center has the "Studebaker" lettering painted in white. The illustration # is 502-11 on page 140.The Studebaker part# is 308071W which is on page 149.

The radiator grille center chrome ornament on the upper flat part is painted white. The illustration # is 502-74 on page 140.The Studebaker part# is 308701WP which is on page 152.

On the lower portion of the radiator grille chrome center piece is a painted area. This is where the radiator grill center chrome ornament mounts. I have seen some that are grey, aluminum, and white.

Mine is a very dark grey.
Can someone tell me what color this should be?

Thanks.

Thanks for the picture.

The design looks ever so much cleaner without the bumper guards

Mine was NOS and was aluminum colour. I agree about the bumber guards. My first one had 'em so this one has 'em, too. I'm reminicing, I guess.

NO stylists ever sculpted a design with bumper guards! At least not unless said guards (like Cadillac's or Packard's "Dagmars") were an integral part of the final clay.

I think that argent is the color that you are looking for.
