  • Fuel System: Zero Vapor-Lock Sure Is Nice, Thanks To Fuel Injection !

Call it vapor-lock, heat related fuel problems, modern gas problems, operator error, or whatever. All I know is, it sure is nice to have zero of those problems, thanks to the "Hamilton Fuel Injection" system I recently installed on the 62 GT.
I just returned from a 190 mile trip today, in 100-104 degree weather. Stopped several times, and not one tiny hint of the problems, that I had previously resigned to accept as part of driving Studes.

Looks like the wife's GT will be next for HFI, but first gotta get it roadworthy.

      Joe:

Was this their $1,399 throttle body unit?

Did the car run any better (other than no vapor lock)?

      Any improvement in gas mileage?

And was it difficult to install, or could the typical Stude backyard mechanic do it?

      Thanks,
      Larry

Yes, it is the $1399 system.

The car runs and performs about like an AFB operates in 60-70 degree weather, in that it does everything perfectly, with strong, steady power..

I believe the HFI will out do most AFBs by 1-2 MPG, whether it be on a car with a 4-speed and 3.73 rear end, or a OD with 3.73 rear end, or an automatic with 3.31, etc.. It will not, however, make the 4-speed car get the MPG of an OD equipped car.

The first one is a learning experience, but within the ability of most backyard mechanics, especially with the outstanding customer support HFI provides. If I do another one, it will be piece of cake.
