  • Electrical: Thumping Electrical Wiper Motor Unit

After three years of purchasing a lot and designing and building a new home I'm back on the Hawk. The next step is installing the Vintage Air evaporator / heater unit behind the dash. All of the components under there have to be reliable as access will be very difficult. The wipers had a thumping sound. Most of you probably know the cause, but I had no clue. All linkage was checked, even removed, no change. With fear, I removed the gear access cover. The little copper "fingers" that are part of the wiper parking system seemed to be the problem. They contact the gear and were worn. SI had a replacement parking switch and it's installation solved the problem. (p/n 1351851)

Possibly these photos will help someone with this problem. As can be seen, I also need a gasket. It was not in the SI catalog. Any suggestions on a source?

Cut one out yourself. Paper bag, cereal box, gasket material, etc. How thick is the original ?
Gasket sealer. You're all set. It doesn't have to be oil or fuel resistant.
