  • Rear Axle: "NEW" NOS VINTAGE Axle sets on E Bay

I was just surfing E bay/Studebaker Parts and found this listing. I have no dog in this hunt. I thought it might be of interest to an SDC member looking for axles (NEW?). I didn't check it out, so...For what it's worth:

Up for auction are these vintage axles.
These came from a closed studebaker dealership from the NOS storage area. We were told that these were NOS axles from the previous owner and they do not look like they have ever been installed. Splines , threads , keyways look Perfect.
Also when these were found there were multiple sets of them also indicating they were NOS.
We are unsure exactly what year , make , or model they were mounted on.
Bearings are Timken bearings and the part number on them is 14132T.
Axles measure 30 1/4 inches in total length.
Paper Tags are missing. 4DS is written on 1 axle.
Both axles, bearing, & races shown are included in this auction.
Rare pieces. Goodoldays Vintage Auto Store

Unless those "stains" can be wiped off of the tapers, I would say they are used. Neal

I agree. They sure look used to me. Anyone know the application just from looking? 27, 23,44?

They look like TT axles, too...
Stains are probably cosmolene, or something like that...
          Wouldn't trust the bearings, though...

That bearing number sounds like the one used in a Model 27 axle.

Actually Gord, they are all the same Timkin 14132T Bearing '51 to early '65, Model 23, 27 & 44.

The TT and Open are the same Axles also.

The bad news: if you mouse over the 4th Pic, the top Axle, you will see a rust spot coming out of what looks like a hairline CRACK, I can see that these are definetly USED, you can see where the Hub was mounted and where the Inner Seal was riding, also the factory Lubriplate white grease in the Bearing used only on bearings installed in a Car.

One of them may be OK.

The NOS axles that I have do not have the bearings already installed on them!. The bearings on them makes me think they are used also
