I ended up going with Westach:

    Westach / Westberg Mfg Inc
Westach designs and builds quality gauges and instruments for a wide range of applications, including personal aircraft, standard, diesel, electric, and hybrid automotive vehicles, and agriculture.

Took a while to get it and they sent me the wrong one, sent the correct one and they paid for the shipping. The lamp insert didn't fit well and had to trim it. The needle didn't rest at "0" and since the is no external adjustment, I made a tool out of a ty-wrap to adjust it from the lamp hole. There appears to be no way of taking it apart. Have read of others having the needle set to "0" problem. Anyway it is now all well and good. They make a bullet shaped housing that can mount to the steering column. Mine is 6 volt and not polarity sensitive, it just connects to ground and to the coil. You'll have to email them to get the correct part number. Oh yea, kinda expensive... Sorry for the mondo pictures...
