  • Electrical: '51 Signal Question

Will the factory turn signal switch from a '50 Commander with an automatic column bolt up to a '51 Commander with an automatic column?

    Thanks!

I know this is not an answer to your question, but just be aware that '50s were wired differently than '51s. The earlier cars had separate bulbs for signals and the switches were electrically different.

It will probably bolt up physically, but won't work electrically. 50 used separate bulbs for the rear signals, but 51 and up used the brake light bulbs. That means the 51 and up has more complicated wiring and interfaces with the brake lights.

All of the 51-52 turn signal SWITCHES are the same, so if you have a 51-52 switch, you can probably get it to fit the 50 housing.
