  • Who made this????

I picked up this transmission adapter from a friend last weekend. Hopefully, it will further enhance Christine's ability to cruise at a higher rate of speed. Does any one know who manufactured these adapters? I have the flywheel adapter and GM flex plate, but I need to know what starter to use.
As always, thanks for your help.

The Aluminum ones are Jon & Mike Myer units, this one looks to be Steel (rust) so it is probably a Steel Tech. adapter. If my memory serves, they are both the same shape and use some kind of right hand mounted Ford Starter.

I think StudeRich is right. The Steel Tech adapter is on this Studebaker page http://www.studebaker-info.org/tech/...djlsbca96.html

I see that I do not have the adapter to center the plate to the block. I guess I can bolt on a manual chevy bellhousing and center it up the Studebaker way.

        Thanks guys.

It uses a 89 Ford Ranger V6 starter P/N 163224. It is a mini-starter and about $110. If you need the dimensions of the adapter for the centering device, I could put them up here for you.

I could probably use the dimensions, even though I dont see any way to bolt the centering device to the adapter plate.

            Thanks.

Jamie Steel tech had a round hole in center. Looks like one I copied years ago and only made one. It came from Roy Poore. Used a chevy bell housing to center and mid 90s jeep 6 cyl. starter. David

Does this mean we can caravan at 75mph on the way to South Bend?

If everything goes as planned, Christine will be there. She made it to Boone, NC. and back last weekend with no problems and I'll venture to say that it was around 500 miles. She only drank one quart of oil and three or four tanks of gas. She needs overdrive!!!
