  • "Stance"

From time to time, members of the forum have been known to make comments about one car or an others, "Stance."

Such comments cause me, occasionally, to ponder that I might like to do this and/or that to my '54, to improve this, and/or that.

We all know that I have considered different wheels, and passed on that change.

A couple of days ago, while sitting and pondering the '54's "stance," I decided I might like to raise the rear of her skirt a little. This is how she sits now, and I kinda thought I'd like to raise her tush just a tad:

I thought that, until I saw this:

    Think I'll leave her alone!

    But... I will consider input!

    Sheba's stance is perfect.

I think so, too, Dave. Sheba is perfect. Just admit it.

You should add gold plated lug nuts to accent the lovely spinners. Gold valve stem caps, too.

I know that there are a lot of things that ain't right. But, Sheba ain't one of those things.

Dave, I am assuming Sheba is your car, and that is the darker red one with the honeycomb wheels?
If so, I would leave it alone or LOWER if anything. The brighter red one with the painted bumpers and billet style wheels just doesn't do it for me. Nice car for sure, just not as nice as the darker red one in the first picture. Much more cohesive look and the right details for the car.

                Stance is good as is.
I in fact lowered the rear of mine so it sits much like yours now, maybe a little lower all around, but the stance is about the same.
                Just about perfect.

Leave her alone, Dave. She looks fine right now.

Keep it like that. That is how mine sits and to get mine that way took a lot of time metal shaping.

Sheba is still the nicest example of the most elegant Studebaker design, in my opinion. I've always admired her, often with lust in my heart.

What, Dave? You don't like Bill's Studillac?

                            Didn't say that, Chris!

I like Bill's car... a lot... it's much nicer than mine!

I just don't want to emulate its stance, any more than he would want to emulate my car's stance with his!

I like my car more than I like Bill's, and there would be something wrong with Bill, if he didn't like his car more than he should like mine!

I wouldn't trade with Bill, and Bill would be an idiot to trade with me... and... Bill ain't no idiot, so there's no issue there!

So, while looking at Bill's car helped me decide not to change my car's stance, there is no lack of respect here for the "stance" Bill took with his Studeillac!
