You know, if Dick's GT Hawk sells he will have some time and cash to devote to this car. :D[}:)]

You have to love this guy's ad (as well as his car). Of course, with zero feedback, he may not understand what it takes to have a successful auction. (Dick - he is near you and needs help!)

This is the one picture of the car:

http://i4.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/a8/a2/d78c_1.JPG

He also starts it at $3,500 with a higher reserve but then states "Highest Bid or Best Offer."

Then at the end of the ad he has the following in underlined bold red ink:

"[u]Attention Watchers!: Price will not go any lower than it already is and that it will go to the scrap yard along with all the brand new parts for it before the price will lower.</u>"

We all know that he will get nowhere near that price for it with a scrapper, so why even make the threat? [xx(]

Ka-Ching! eBay collects another listing fee. Based on what little the picture shows, the car's value more closely approaches $350 than $3500. And the threat to send it to the scrapper is kind of hollow, given the huge demand for 6-auto, '62 Larks in tough shape.

I know where I could get a running V8 '62 Lark for close to the $350 figure, and I'm not tripping over myself to get it.

Obviously he doesnt want less than 3500 for the Lark. To the rest of the world he's getting the masses to scramble to buy the car before its sent to the torch and its gone. To me its a scare tactic to plunk down whatever I have, as long as its higher than the next guy. This can also appear as a ploy to get a car sold with problems on it that weren't divulged when I bought the car. Provide a reasonable offer and please dont hold the car or whatever hostage to sell it to me, I dont like products sold to me that way.:(

My three cents, lol

I don't know if you noticed or not, but the front clip of the car has been pulled. The body ends at the edge of the front door. There is no body work (fender) over or around the front tire.

I also left her an e-mail and some suggestions. As already mentioned, it's her dad trying to sell the car so who knows...

We could blame Jay Leno for being a high visability rich guy in the hobby, or Barrett-Jackson for giving people the idea that all old cars are worth fortunes...

But the truth is, there have been guys like this forever (just ask your grandfather).:D

He'd rather sell it for $50 to the crusher than get "scr*wed" by accepting a fair price from someone like us because he "knows" it's worth what he's asking.
It's the same mindset that lets a car rot to nothing out in the back 40.
Too bad the cars suffer.

It is most likely front clip stuff (possible good fenders). If you look hard at that picture, the front clip has been pulled from the car. So not only is this the least desireable Studebaker that you'll find, it's also a basketcase.
