Does anyone have one or two good rebuildable seats for sale for a 63 Avanti?

Jerry,

Are you looking to keep the Avanti 100% original, or are modifications OK? Do you plan to drive it regularly, and/or for long distances?

Having driven my '63 Avanti for 29 years, I would suggest that you consider retrofitting the buckets. IMHO, the originals were quite uncomfortable, and a bit fragile. If you "Search" the Forum for "Avanti Seats", you will find several posts that detail the installation of a more modern seat.

RE: Seat comfort....
I was at a neighborhood charity car show last summer and was talking to a guy about seat comfort (or lack thereof).
He said the Dollar store was selling a plastic framed, open mesh seatback with lumbar support, for $1. He gave me the one out of his car. It works great for longer drives. It svaed me from having my wife make a small pillow for the same effect.

When I restored the front seats in my R2, I re-stuffed them with high density foam (more than original) and added bushings to the sloppy pivots. As a result, the seat backs are more vertical and padded. I find them quite comfortable on long trips, but I am not a large guy.
I just happened to have a supply of bronze bushings that had the correct ID for the pivot pins, and a suitable OD for a press-in fit in the seat back.
