I believe one of the chapters donated a subscription to their local library. Can't remember who, though.

If one could just donate 1 or 2 issues a year, at least they'd be on a shelf for awhile. Times that (x) by our 12,000 members in citys and states and countrys all over the world. This topic comes up every once in awhile. Don't forget to do this. Get that Studebaker name out there before it is completely forgotten!

Before every chapter or member donates a gift subscription to their local public library make sure you understand the library's policy on gift subscriptions. Some libraries welcome gift subscriptions, others do not. If the library accepts the subscription...are you as the donator willing to continue the subscription until...and where will the library display the donated Turning Wheels. Some libraries will file donated subscriptions in a princeton file (a library magazine box) off to the side of the periodicals room and others will put the periodical on the regular display shelf, some may toss it on a table.

Some libraries do not accept donated subscription because of the staff time involved to find a MARC record on OCLC (a worldwide library record database), download the TW MARC record (they do cost money to download, everything costs from OCLC) create a serials control and subscription record and then check the item in.

Some may not accept gifts because the library does not want to appear to endore any position and remain neutral to a fault (but it's a car magazine...yea, I know)

In short, ask about your local libraries gift policy... they might accept everything but reserve the right to use it as they please (recycle or sell)
