  • Transmission / Overdrive: BW transmission (Auto) dimensions

    Hello,

I have the 65/66 Borg Warner automatic in my Chevy powered, '64 Daytona. I'm getting ready to do a 700R4 swap. As accurate as I could (what with getting around crossmembers etc.) I measured 22-1/2" from the front of the BW bellhousing to the center of the transmission mount bolts.

Ironically that is the same dimension (22-1/2") listed for the 700RR4 (with the 24214689 tail housing). Even if it is not dead on, it seems like a little hole slotting would be the only alteration needed. However..., typically when I read about a Studebaker to 700R4 swap there always seems to be discussion about significantly altering the transmission mount location. So, it has me a bit confused.

Would anyone know the specific dimensions of the BW automatic regarding the bellhousing to transmission mount dimensions (I got 22-1/2") - and the overall length as well (I got 34-1/2").

Thank you for your time, Tom
