I see two 47-52 models parked side by side, looks like a 55 facing the camera in the back, and maybe..a Hawk toward the left end, but hard to tell. Could be another one or two on the far left end, but if there are it is an unusual scene for most towns.

The 8th car to the left in the long row looks like it could be a Hawk, but with the snow on it I'm not sure. The 13th car down also looks like it could be a 51 or 52, but again hard to tell. If a person had the original photo you could probably make out more details.

Part of the code in the lower right corner is 2-56. 'Wonder if the photo was taken in February 1956? That might be a new 1956 Chevy(?) on the extreme right by itself, parked away from the old riff-raff. <GGG> BP

To me the 8th car down looks like a '57 Ford, but I could be wrong.

I also thought that was a possibility. The snow covers some details.

Is that the old state capitol building in Springfield, IL?

That car has a GM shape and is newer than most cars in the picture for sure.

Agreed on the '57 Ford possibility, although the roof looks a little high.

If we stay with the 2/56 photo date ID for the sake of an argument, could the subject "1957 Ford" also be a 1956 Plymouth? It had a higher roofline than a '57 Ford, and the fins were vertical, not canted.

'Just hard to tell.

Interesting that so many of the cars in that row were backed in to park. I'd expect to see a higher percentage just driven in "normally." BP

Late reply here... No, that is the Minnesota capital in St Paul.
