Anyone remember that Chrysler Turbine car at the 1964 New York World's fair? The thing looked just like a tricked-out T-bird.

It is sorta turbine powered as it either has a Turbo 350 or Turbo 400 transmission, correct? ;)

When I was kid, about 15-16, a guy in our small town got a T-Bird turbine to test drive. It was beautiful! Just went down the road a whining. He said it would run on anything from gas to perfume to peanut oil.

Wasn't just a World's Fair show car. Fifty-five were produced and tested by a cross section of the driving public. Several remained in private hands.

I believe one of those turbine cars is currently owned by somebody in South Bend, or so I've heard.

There was one of those roaming the streets of Davenport, Iowa back in the day. A past co-worker of mine once worked for the local Chrysler dealership. He told me he had to wash it many times but they would never let him drive it!
... Never heard of a "T-Bird Turbine".

Not heard about someone in South Bend owning one, but I did see one in the mid-60's at the ENCO Gas Station that stood at the northwest corner of Michigan St. & Indiana Ave. It drew a crowd really quick!!!

This car was featured in a movie I watched as a kid.
Loved that car! Think the movie was called "The Lively Set" starring Doug McClure.

That Turbine car is still beautiful. Would be perfect with a JTS powerplant.
