View Full Version : Barry Bostwick drives a Hawk! And more Petersen meet pix

I was at the LA chapter meet at the Peterson with my buddy Tom, and as we were ogling a slick Hawk street rod, a tall gentleman with gray hair walked by holding a red windshield washer fluid bag, grinning and exclaiming "Two bucks!" It took a moment or two before we looked at each other and realized who it was - actor Barry Bostwick!

Barry, it appears, is a freshly-minted member of the LA SDC Chapter, and is in possession of a very solid '63 GT Hawk, which he was nice enough to allow me to take a photo of him alongside:

Barry was discussing his Hawk, which he has just recently acquired, with a couple of other Hawk owners when I walked up and eavesdropped :) He was saying how he'd just been driving it on the Pacific Coast Highway yesterday, and how much he loves the car. Obviously a gentleman of excellent and refined taste!

A couple of other shots from the show... here's an immaculate '56 Sky Hawk:

And an utterly gorgeous, completely loaded '54 Land Cruiser:

You could smell the Blue Coral on that car as you walked by :) And here's a lovely '56 Clipper Super hardtop:

More pix here (http://s132.photobucket.com/albums/q26/clarknovak/LA%20Petersen%20Meet%20March%2011%202012/)for those interested. It was a great show, well attended and amazing cars! Kudos to the LASDC for another wonderful event!

Did you ask Barry to reprise any of his songs from "Rocky Horror"?

It was a great meet, and I got to reconnect with Pat Drnec. Hadn't seen him in a few years.
That 56 Packed belongs to my son and his car partner.

I passed Barry on the freeway, headed toward the Pacific Coast Highway.

Great pics for sure. Back ground sure looks familiar. I have some pics from the mid 80's when I worked in LA area. I attended a few get together's on weekends. Is this a yearly meeting place that goes that far back?

I'm impressed with Mr Bostwick's choice of cars...to be expected I guess from George Washington.

I was there too and remember all the cars you photographed plus a really sharp looking Avanti (wire wheels, tan trim line all around the car, including the front bumper, which was replaced with this 'newer' look). Color? Sort of Oxblood, a deep burgandy with slight brownish tones. And in the N/W Corner was an outstanding flawless black '51 Land Cruiser.......what a paint job!!! I may have seen Barry but, I was looking more at the cars than the people, plus two friends I was with were pointing out 'this 'n that' about the various Studebaker's on display.

Thanks to all of you who attended our 27th annual Winter Meet! We had more cars than we have had in a long while and many that have never been to our meet. I hope everyone had a good time and I hope to see all of you (and even more cars) next year.

Great turnout this year! I'm still surprised how many local Studes I've never seen before keep coming out of the woodwork. I really enjoyed seeing the 2 '58 hardtops and the '37 2 door and Coupe Express.

Yes, those were great cars! The '58s were represented by both a President and a Commander, and they were both gorgeous:

And the '37s... well!
