  • NOS Studebaker Parts on Ferrari?

That’s what auto designer/writer/styling critic Robert Cumberford asks after viewing the 1957 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Coupe.
In the latest Sports Car Market he says…
”Consider the 1951Studebaker headlight rims. No, these are not actually N.O.S. South Bend parts as far as I can tell, as they are far more pointed towards the bottom than the Raymond Loewy originals, but there is no question that their design was taken without scruple and without success.”
The car sold for $1.8 million at the RM auction in Phoenixon January, 20.
If you ever see it at a car show, tell the owner where he can get some replacements…cheap.

Aren't the Studebaker disc brakes same or similar to some Ferarri models?

I'm no expert, but I believe they're license-made Dunlops as used on 50s Jaguars.

I don't know about that, but I do know the calipers were used on some Jaguars and Datson sports cars.

Those headlight rings look nice to me. They would make a neat custom addition to my Oscar '49 truck but way too expensive. I like subtle changes for custom stuff. Things like that may go un-noticed by the masses but would be caught by the observant...I like those kind of custom touches. I have a few quirky touches on my truck people may like, or not, but most would not notice unless educated and observant.

                why not?

I was finishing a workbench the other day, it had a bunch of 'stuff' on top of it. I was adding a stainless steel top, so the bench needed to be cleared. I took some NOS Studebaker parts from the workbench and carefully set them on the bonnet of a Ferrari sitting in the shop.

Last week we had a new Charger here for a quick repair, the owner was impressed with the '73 Cuda, Ferrari, R1 Hawk and 60 Lark vert..............all the fine exotics?

Early 60's Ferrari, Aston-Martin, Jaguar all used the same disk brakes that Studebaker used.
