The man in the front center was employed by Studebaker in 1927 but his rendezvous with destiny would not come until about 20 years later (very famous!). Bonus points for identifying the car (year and model).

No, not Raymond Loewy. A little early for him and Studebaker.

Preston Tucker? I don't have a clue about the car.

I'd hazard a guess that it's Virgil Exner Sr, actual designer of the 1947 Studebaker (as encouraged by Roy Cole).

                Mauri Rose.
The guy with the 'stache does look a bit like Mauri Rose, but the feller next to him sure looks like Clyde Cessna to me.

I'll go for the car: President 6, model ES-C, 1927-28. As for the man in the middle, how about Paul Hoffman?

Bill Pressler goes to the front of the class!! It is Preston Tucker. Congratulations. The car is a 1927 Commander model EW coupe. Incidentally the man standing next to the car is Eddie Stinson who had recently won the National Air Tour in his Stinson Monoplane (his father standing to his left). The photo was taken in Memphis Tenn. At the time Preston Tucker was 24 years old and had the title of Used car Manager. His tenure with Studebaker was rather brief but is mentioned in the Wikipedia biography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preston_Tucker
