  • Actress With Excellent Taste

This afternoon, I was called by a guy from a movie company. They are going to be shooting in Westchester County, NY. The guy knows nothing about Studebakers. The actress in the movie requires/insists that a Studebaker be used for the scenes. So, he is searching for a Studebaker to be used. The exterior of the car will be shown and the car driven at speeds up to ten miles per hour.

I did not feel comfortable about giving anyone's personal telephone numbers to this guy that I do not know. There was a lot of background activity taking place on his end of the call. The name of the actress did not register and I neglected to get contact information for the guy. The whole call was such a surprise. I did suggest that he post his request here, on the SDC Forum.

What year car or truck? Or what era? Restored or used/driver? Two door? Convertible?

The "renter" of the car would need to know the "ERA" that the Writers are trying to represent in the Film, in order to get the right Year.

The condition, Model and selling price of the car when new, would have to reflect correctly on the proposed "owner" of the car's Character and financial position.

If he is serious he will need much more info.

I understand that the era is less important than a long hood and big rear seat in those XXX movies.

Sounds like a job for the Avanti. Can't dent the hood, plenty of back seat room.
But I don't think I'll volunteer my car...don't scratch the hood paint with high heels...and it's new carpet.

Besides, I'd be too ashamed to show anyone the film my car was in.

Could the first four letters in the name of the car have any significance? (We could probably go on for hours with this)

This thread/topic went off on a tangent - not unusual.
I believe that it is a reputable movie company.
I did mention the 1962 Lark convertible used in "TWA" and he was familiar with that show. I think that was shot in Westchester. I thought that he could contact that producer and find out whose car that is.

I think you mean Pan Am with the balck Lark convertible.

                The car's agent is Creativefilmcars.com

                Here's the Lark's page.

If the guy you spoke to is in the "biz" I would have thought he's have known about them, or similar services.

I had an Avanti in Myth Busters once, did any one see it back in 06?

Yes, you are correct. I entered the incorrect airline name. I have flown TWA but not PanAm. Maybe that is why I used the incorrect airline name.

How about a Packard Hawk? Always mistaken for a Studebaker and always smiling for the audience.

If you haven't flown Pan Am by now, it ain't gonna happen.
But the same can be said of TWA, it merged with American several years ago.

As many times as I've seen this thread I just have to wonder~
                          • do we know who the actress is?
                          • do we know what sort of Stude she's demanding?

Folks could help better if they at least knew the answer to the second question.
But they might be even more interested if they knew the answer to the first one...

                          I know I would!!!

That's too bad. I guess all we can hope for is that he sees this thread.
