  • Need 62-63 Lark Bumper Help

How do you tell the rear bumper from the front on a 62-63 Lark?

The parts manual gives them different part numbers, but they LOOK the same to me.

There must be some difference that I am missing. What is it?

Hm-- on a 59-60 the front has holes for the license plate, but not the rear.. Or maybe the holes for the brackets are in a different location?

Front has a dip on top to go under the bottom of the grille.

Edit: good call Matt. Forgot about that.

The rear has the dip too. The difference is the rear has 2 extra holes for the little guards that house the tag lights.

          That's it Matt! Thanks.

It was actually pretty smart of Stude to use the same bumper front and rear with just a couple of extra holes in one of them.

(BTW, it was worth the thread just to get to see that beautiful 63 convert! )

There are two different sets of front and rear bumpers for 1962-1963. Which set depends on whether the car is equipped with optional Winguards or not. The bumpers can be substituted either way by using extra bolts or drilling extra holes.
