Well, relatively cheap: an R1 with a $5400 BIN. But putting it back together will cost you...

And it was originally red--or do my eyes deceive me? And the gauge bezels look rather rusty for a California car. Course it may have been left outside for a long time. Be interesting to see whether it sells and for how much. And do my eyes continue to deceive me or is that an odd looking AFB on the engine? The fuel inlet appears to be in the center front of the carb and on my R2, if I recall correctly, it is on the right of the carb. Course the R1 carb could be different.

Yes, it was definately red, my bezels are rusted in my 63, though it
was from back east, its been in California for 20 plus years. The last
thing is hilarious. It's the correct carb .. it's just on BACKWARD!:D[:0]

It clearly states "not a repaint" yeah right!! thats why the firewall is red, also the wiper mechanisms appear to be missing, the master cylinder, probably the radiator, fan and fan clutch and who knows what else. Like someone here said a while back" There is nothing more expensive than a cheap Avanti"

You're RIGHT TOM........now I see it: the carb is on backwards! That's the PCV connection I see. Now who the H*ll would do that. Even just to sit it on the manifold would be a faux pas if you're going to run a picture to sell it.

A cheap Avanti..............now that's a GREAT oxymoron. It ALMOST looks like the picture of the engine compartment is of another vehicle entirely.........................nah, that can't be. But the red color seems to extend beyond the engine compartment and on to the left fender. Also, how COULD the guy say with a straight face that the original color was (is) gold? Next he'll be telling us that if you mount the AFB backwards the gas mileage doubles. He, he, he, he.

If it sells for a couple grand, it would be a good deal...original color or not. Might be the perfect car for that guy building that beautiful stainless Avanti chassis.

BTW, he was at South Bend with the chassis. Looks even better in person than in the pictures. What a craftsman!

Ok.........if you can't paint the engine RED I guess the next best thing is the engine compartment. But isn't the secret in mounting the carb backwards how the Granatellis got the Avantis up to 170 mph plus? As the ads said you need some method of rearranging the gas molecules if you desire more hp or mpg. And if the carb goes on backwards you gotta have "messed up" the gas molecules.
