Tours of the Administration Building

I thought I had heard, or seen, that there may be tours of the Studebaker Administration Building. I thought I saw/heard a price of $25. Worth it to me. I can't find anything about it now. Does anybody have any information on this? I want to bring an older friend who was a Studebaker/Packard/M-B dealer, but he wouldn't be able to stay all week with his son. Also, steps can be an issue for him. Would that preclude such a tour?

I now see on the official website, www.sdcmeet.com, that Administration Building tours are tentatively scheduled the morning, and afternoon, of Tuesday, July 31.

I would still like to know if a former Studebaker dealer having issues with steps would be able to do the tour. I know there are elevators in the building; wondering if they work and can be used.

When this tour was offered back in 2007- I took it!!!
Unfortunately I left my camera on a vendor's table earlier that afternoon.

I do recall there being stairs- and lots of them. Not to mention lots of walking.
I do not believe that the elevators were being used.
But things have changed since '07-
the tour was FREE back then...

I will lcheck on the status of the tour and the use of elevators and post back here ASAP.

As some of the chairs are on the road wor work quite a bit it might be better in some cases to send us a direct email or call as it can be difficult to monitor the Forum at all times.

Correct, Craig. I was one of the volunteer tour guides, and the cost was $20. I believe it went to Indiana Historic Landmark Foundation, or something close to that. BP

I stand corrected and scared. If I can forget a simple detail like that from that long ago- maybe by next week I will have forgotten my name!!!

You've got that all wrong- more like "back in 2007 money was no object"

These days it is a completely different story!!!

There is much less money to go around after I retired from the NAVY 3 1/2 years ago,
and have yet to find a job to generate the income needed for this hobby.

(yup- look for a Stude or two to be on the block very soon...)
