  • Steering: Help Identfy this part - Steering - Brake?

I 've looked at the power steering and power brake diagrams but cannot find this part.
The photo is a bit fuzzy as is my memory of where this goes. I'm pretty sure it came off with the power steering or power brake components.
    Project is a 55 President.
    Thanks

I may be wrong, but I think this is a shim that is used under one of the bolts that holds the steering box to the frame.

And to follow up what Gord said, I believe it's function is to hold the rubber splash apron down.........the rubber fits behind it.

I had this piece left over when I put mine together and I did not have power brakes or steering.

I have one too, Off of my 52 hard top.
I don't remember where it goes either. I have several sheet metal parts like this that bolt on with either the brake M/C or steering col.

It goes under the center bolt of the steering box, on the outside of the frame.
Not as a shim of any sort, not between the box and frame.

Pretty sure Paul and Bezhawk have the right answer.

                And the purpose it serves?

Champions had steering 'limiters' after it was found out they were dangerous in certain turning situations. I wonder if the Commanders had this same problem, and is that what this is?

It holds the rubber splash guard down. It's already been stated where it goes.
