  • Water Based Auto Paint

Has anyone had any experience with the new water based automotive paints? The present base coat-clear coat systems require an air supply and a suit to be safe to work with. Water based should be a lot safer to use for at home workshops. I want to change the color on my 1938 Cruising sedan and that will require taking it apart and painting individual items.
    Any input appreciated.

I'd have to agree; not really too confident in water-based paints yet[|)]

Acrylic urethanes are relatively easy to spray- and repair if necessary! Personally, I don't think any special suit is necessary; I just wear old clothes... other than paint staining clothes, I don't see any real-world need for a suit for the occasional, hobbyist-type painter.

Get a quality respirator, old shirt and pants, and go with urethane!
