  • Transmission / Overdrive: DG-200 Sprag / Freewheel Orientation

My transmission guy is eliminating possibilities in troubleshooting.
Since the sprags can physically slip in either way, how can we know which direction each assembly is supposed to freewheel and which direction it's supposed to remain locked?
Trying to eliminate the possibility it was assembled incorrectly before he opened it up.

Neither the Stude nor Hudson DG-200 manuals give a clear picture/description, but if we can determine, for example, the front one freewheels clockwise and the rear one counter-clockwise when correctly assembled, that answers the question.

    Regards,
    Clarence

Look for arrows on one end of the free wheel unit and see page 71 of the SAD manual.
The later units have a lip or rolled edge on one end that goes toward the rear of the transmission.

Thanks, Dwain. He found the arrow on the Forward free-wheel unit. But no arrow on the Low brake drum plate one.
