  • The Year of the Hawk

Apparently this is the year for Packard Hawk sales.

By my count, as of today since May a total of 23 P.H.s have sold, parted out, or as far as I know are currently still for sale: (I just amended this, since two went on the market today)

    Oregon(1)(1)
    Idaho(1*)
    Ohio (2)
    NY (1)
    Florida (2**)
    Kentucky (4***)(4)
    Pennsylvania (3***(1****)(2)
    California (4)(2)
(*1) - State where someone is actively seeking a P.H. and eager to buy the right car.
Alberta (1)(1)(The ebay auction on this one ended four hours ago. Last bid $18,001 but it failed to meet reserve.)
    New Hampshire (1)(1)
    Washington (1)
    Arizona (1)(1)
    Georgia (1****)
    Nevada (*1)

Numers in red indicate number of vehicles known to still be for sale in that state.

    * Resold 5 months later
** One immediately put back up for sale on Hemmings but didn't sell. It was supposed to be auctioned in Ft. Lauderdale on Jan 7th but never made it onto the block - status unknown.
*** At least one basket case
    **** Parted out
(*1) Indicates the number of persons eager to acquire a P.H. in that state.

Note: This post was changed on January 16, 2012 to reflect the addition of another P.H. for sale in California. As I learn about other Packard Hawks, I'll come back and modify this initial post as appropriate.

Note: This post was changed on January 18, 2012 to reflect change in status of one Washington State P.H. which the owner has now decided to restore instead of selling.

Note: Updated again on January 18, 2012. This time to reflect a state where someone is interested in acquiring a P.H..

It has been the "Year of the Hawk" for me since 1967. That's when I got my first one. There have been about a dozen since then, and I have spent very little time since without owning at least 1. The Silverhawk in my Sig. Pic. has belonged to me since 1979.

How rough is it? Matt Pettigrew from Brisbane is looking for a P.H. in decent restorable condition at the right price and he'd prefer it to be on the left coast because he ships out of the bay area.

Thanks for the added vehicle. I've amended the original post in this thread and will keep it updated.

It is a complete car that has been sitting 10 years + or- engine might be stuck and brakes will need to be done as always, always a crap shoot on non running cars but it it is going to be restored then it is a mutt point, for a PH it is a $12,000.00 or close to it.

Mike, thanks for doing this. Although I never expect to own a PH, it is still quite interesting to see the transactions in this very scarce model.

Any old yards down your way where one might stumble on one languishing in the back corner?

Not planning on selling mine (wife promises to put my ashes in the door with a note " don't vacum- owner stays with car") but it would be interesting if you had sale prices for these.

List revised again. The guy with one for sale in Washington has changed his mind. After looking at prices that folks have been getting he's decided to restore it.

Revised again. Any of you P.H. owners also performance car enthusiasts? There's a guy in Las Vegas who has a very nice custom hot rod that he'd be interested in trading for a P.H. in the right condition. If interested, Click Here!!!
