Since the SDC's 50th year is upon us, here's one of SDC Founder Harry Barnes' cars.

'33 Commander that I found, then sold, for a friend recently.

Some of Steve Cade's prewars. You can barely see the farm wagon, and the 1913 is behind the 1911 Flanders.

Hi all,
this is an Australian built 1939 Studebaker Commander with a body by T J Richards of Adelaide, who also became General Motors Holden, so it is actually possible to have a General Motors bodied Studebaker if it was made in 1940 or 41 in Australia. How is that for kooky?

The car is now in the England and lives down south near Chichester. I imported this car from Australia a few years ago. It was originally given to Clare Glasson in Sydney in 1939 when she was 18 as a birthday present, by her father. She kept the car all her life and from I think it may have been sold from her estate in the early 1990's.

Now those of you who are astute will realize that the steering wheel is on the right hand side. This is so we can have our sword hands free, when driving, as we are not allowed to have guns to shoot people who cut us off or just to shoot down 59 Chevs for example, like you do State side.

These pictures were taken at the family summer home of Sir Christopher Wren, at Wroxall Abbey a few miles from our home, which has a Norman Chapel on site. Wren was a leading architect of his time and penned the masterpiece of St Paul's Cathedral in London in the mid 1600's.

Enjoy and Happy new Studebaker Year
Greg

Its NOT "kooky" at all! Keep in mind Fisher Body made some Studebaker bodies in the 1920's.

That's because Champions only had 4 lug nuts. I've often thought it's strange that they unly used four lug hubs and wheels on Champions. Wouldn't it have been much easier to just use the same 5 lug wheels and hubs on all models?
Got to watch those lug nuts... They can cause the car to randomly short out and shut off at a moments notice... Trust me, I know. :p (see old thread about lug nuts)

39-50 Champions had 4 lug wheels. Commanders up to 1950 shared a 5 on 5" pattern with 1/2 ton trucks. In '51 the Champions and Commanders both went to a 4.5" 5 lug pattern.

Which war?????

I am confident all of mine predate the First World War and some may have been assembled prior to the Spanish American War.

This is my side spring wagon:

My two board farm wagon which I had at Lancaster in 2008:

My doctor's buggy that I also had at Lancaster that was featured on a TW cover several years ago:

Another buggy that I took to South Bend in 2007:

I have another buggy with a top, but apparently do not have a picture of it handy.
