  • Engine: oil pressure relief valve in 170

Assembling a 170 6 a question has come up with the Oil Relief valve

Does the bigger hole on the plunger mate with the spring or does the small hole mate against the spring???

    Or does it matter

The spring fits inside the big hole. The small hole goes towards the timing gears.

This could tend to confuse someone.
The Correct Spring is only slightly smaller than the OD of the Piston, so it does not fit into the Piston, it mearly rests on the outer edge of the center hole in the Piston to allow Oil flow through the Center.
