View Full Version : what year is the studebaker pickup i am buying

a pickup i am buying has the serial number on the left side of the seat support and the model # is on the left front door lock piller post.the serial # r5-005066 the model # is 2r5-12.can anyone identify the true year modle of this pickup.the owner has lost all the paper work.

The 2R5 is a 1/2 Ton '49 to '53 Pickup with the small Champion "6" (169.6cid) engine, the -12 indicates a 6 1/2 Ft. (Short) Bed, which is more correctly a 112 inch wheelbase.

Serial Number 005066 would make it a 1949 year model.

The starting Serial Number for 1953 2R5's was: 96,238, quite a few thousand built like yours, but later!
