  • What do I have?

Hello all, I am new here and have a few questions. My father in law just passed away and he had a Studebaker 2 door wagon out in his trees. My mother in law would like to sell it, but I don't know what it is. The serial number is 1431216.

Is that any help, or do you need to see pictures to tell me what it is? I was hoping there was some master serial number database out there somewhere. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

        Hi NV
Yes as Alan says, " a pic or 2 would be nice"....there are 2 data
plates on the car or should be....one on the driver side door, near
the door hinges and the other is under the hood on the firewall, on
the passenger side....each tells a little. The # you gave may be a
engine #, that is found embossed on the engine and in many states,
was used as a "VIN" number, for registration.

Look through these pics, especially 1955 through 1958, and see if anything looks like your wagon:

OK. I finally had time to get some pics up on my website. Please take a look and let me know what this Studebaker is. I appreciate it. The serial number in the door jamb is 1431216.

                go to:

click on 2007 Album near the top
                then click on August 2007

                Thanks again in advance.

                    It's either a 1957 wagon or possibly a 1958 Scotsman wagon.

Everything that is on the picture indicates a 58 Scotsman wagon.

so next question. is it worth anything? obviously i know it's in REALLY tough shape, but could i get $4000 on ebay for it? or is it just a $500 unit? My mother in law is not trying to retire on selling this vehicle, but i just want a ballpark to help her out.
                            Again. Thanks.
