Here is my Former '63 Lark Daytona Wagonaire, 289, 3 Speed Overdrive, Power rear Window, Split Reclining Maroon & White Bench Seat, 3.73 TT Rear painted Avanti Red (Maroon) to match Interior. I owned it between about 1967 and 1972 When I lived in Redondo Beach, Calif., it went to A Mercury Car Ad Photographer who had a ranch in Montana, I would love to find it again. :)

Now has smooth '56 wheel covers. Shiny paint. Matching wide whites. Etc etc.. Soon to have stainless rocker mouldings and "custom made" stainless gravel guards.

Yes that is a '64 Fairlane Gold Annodized Aluminum V-289 with the Black Paint in the bottom of the "V", I ordered it at the Ford Dealer and when I had the Avanti Red put on over the Gold original color I had the "L A R K" letter holes filled to add the "289' instead.
It also had '60 Hub Caps, much better looking than '63's and I could not bring myself to install Wheel Covers on those beautiful Budd Wheels.

This is how the Daytona rear Panel looked after I removed the "STUDEBAKER" Chrome letters that never showed up on the Silver Aluminum panel, applied Walnut Vinyl Trim, Installed the swoopy script '64 "Studebaker" Script on the left upper and replaced the Gold "Wagonaire" nameplate with a matching script Chrome '64 "Wagonaire" nameplate on the Lower Right.

I guess in those days I was not quite as much into "Original" as I am now, when Original Studebakers actually HAVE some value, unlike the '60-'70's!

This was taken at the Annual Anahiem, CA Parade an Orange Empire Chapter SDC participation event. I believe it was the 4th. of July, I had 3 Clowns riding in the open cargo Area and my Wife followed in our Blue R1 Powershift '63 GT Hawk.

The Black '62 GT Hawk in the lead here is Chuck and Rita Potter's restored Car with a Gold Custom Vinyl Roof, I have forgotten the name of the owner of the rear panel-less White GT Hawk.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l300/2R5/CedarRapidsInternationalMeet2009085.jpg

2nd , a 64 , is one that belonged to a long time Ontario chapter member who has passed on , I went to look at it when it was forsale but the family just wanted too much for it and it wasn't that solid to justify the high price.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l300/2R5/Wagonairebackend.jpg

3rd is a 66 that when this shot was taken it belonged in Kansas but since has changed ownership a couple of times.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l300/2R5/66_Wagonaire.jpg

Last it may really not be a wagon but its close enough ...a hearse that used to belong to a couple of our Hamilton chapter members but was sold years ago and I think it ended up south of the border.

The first pic is a 66 Wagonaire I bought then sold. Next is the 63 Wagonaire we bought from Bams 50 . It will be my wifes cruiser. The picture shows my old school Motor Wheel mag wheels installed. After that are a few progress pics. Work to date includes floors repaired, all different doors, the power tail gate off the 66 is repaired and ready to on, different used rear quarter panel installed, new rear springs and a flanged rear,Turner discs in front with new a arm bushings,a 350/350 combo out of my 72 Impala with custom trans. cross member, stock column shifter modified to work the TH350 with the Impala shift linkage, complete different doghouse, new brake lines and rear shoes and etc,and a new wiring harness currently being run. Will install NOS drivers side rear quarter in a few months along with Don Simmons exhaust. It is taking too long!

BTW, The 63 Wagonaire in the above SASCO courtyard photo is also one I have owned, twice! I bought it from Paul Turrell, swiped some needed parts and them sold it to Dave Spilski. When Dennis closed up shop I got it back from Dave and completely stripped the rusty old girl. The good dashboard and many other parts are now incorporated into our current 63 Wagonaire project. That makes 3 Wagonaires I have owned, but never drove a one of them.

OH oh! This Great post is about to drop off to the dreaded Pg. 2 to be forgotten forever! :p

Has nobody located my unusually equipped and painted Avanti Red '63 Wagonaire?

It would no longer have the Ford 289 Emblems, the new owner replaced the front fenders because of a couple of small bubbles in the lower rear edge. :(

Should still have the Power Rear Window and Overdrive 289, not something you see everyday anymore.

Small world. I was kind of miffed at the time- how could someone with a "modified" car beat out my totally original Wagonaire? <G>. I wrote it off to being red versus my white and for being cleaner than mine. After all, I had pulled a travel trailer from the Bay Area and was camped at the Pismo Beach right on the sand, windy, two little kids... Also, the car was about to turn 100k miles. As old timers remember, in those days, when you went to a car show, you washed and vacuumed the daily driver, drove to the field and showed the car.
