I finally got my car home so I could crawl under it and look at the rear axle. I'm trying to identify what model axle it is. The raised casting on it is 1A4025. It is in a 53 K body. Anybody know what it is? Thanks for your help.

Presuming it's an original car, better to scrape the crud from the rear side of the "web" at each corner of the pumpkin where the axle tubes attach. You are looking for cast numbers like 44 or 41 or 27.
44 and 41 being heavy duty and 27 being light duty.
For gear ratio look for a tag held by one of the cover bolts numbers either with the ratio ie. 3.92 or the fraction ie (and I am making this up) 36/34. If the tag is gone you can remove the cover and count the gear teeth.
If it's a twin trac there may also be a second tag reading something like 25B (again a made up combo of two digits and a single letter.)
