  • Bill Reich

(copy of post from another group)

Early this morning longtime Studebaker enthusiast Bill Reich, my
father, Long Island Chapter and National member, passed away. He is
survived by Carmela Reich, his wife, Concetta Reich, his daughter, and
John Reich, myself. All my life I have had a fond affection for
Studebaker passed on from my dad that included trips on Long Island
with the local chapter as well as trips to Pennsylvania to cruise with
the Keystone Chapter. The greatest Studebaker moment that we shared was
traveling to South Bend, IN for the 150th Anniversary of Studebaker.
It was a great trip and a fun experience.

I know of several parts that my father has sold and I know he would
like me to find the people that he had made transactions with for parts
and honor them. I know of at least one part that he was planning on
shipping this weekend, however after looking through his emails at the
moment I have not seen any mention of parts or addresses. If you are
one of these people please email me either through my father's
addresses: stude1966@yahoo.com, midnightbluert@hotmail.com or my own
    silverbullethawk1959@yahoo.com
with your name, address, and what part you purchased.

If you are also in the Long Island area and would like to attend Bill
Reich's service please let me know.

    Thank you,
    John Reich

    Condolences to the family...

Bill was quite active and appreciated in the Stude community.
He helped me in my quest for some parts, and steered me in the right
    direction.

For some interesting reading and reminiscing, here is a link to some of
    Bill's previous post's...here and elsewhere.

I have had the honor to count Bill Reich as a friend. In fact, my '59 Lark was purchased from Bill and it's my favorite old car. I've known Bill for 14 years and have always found him to be honest and a straight shooter. He has always been a big help to his Stude friends and fellow club members. His son, John, is a chip off the old block. We, on Long Island, are still trying to deal with the shock of Bill's passing.
He will be and already is missed.
      May he rest in peace.

Just thinking about the passing of this "salt of the earth" person. Bill was fun to chat with, exchange info on the why and how of Studebaker repair, and a host of other non car related areas.
The last time I actually saw Bill was in South Bend in 2002...yes he will be missed...too young to leave us.
